Happy April Book Club Members!
Happy April, dear reader! We hope your spring is off to a great start. We’ve got some great book suggestions sent in by some of our members. Remember to let us know what you’re reading!
Dave J. is reading The Spirit Lens by Carol Berg. It’s a fantasy mystery about a magician who shed that profession due to failure and becomes a librarian/detective to find an assassin. Dave says “The premise sounded so innovative that I had to check it out, to very pleasing results.” The author, Carol Berg lives in Colorado.
Another local author, Mario Acevedo, wrote Werewolf Smackdown. Member Lisa W. is reading this one. To read a review of the book in the Denver Post, click here.
Erika B. is reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith. “It’s a crazy mash-up of Lincoln’s true life experiences, but with vampires added in.”
Linda V. is reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. She says “It's a mystery, current day. I could not put it down. It is a very arresting story from the beginning. It has a lot of twists from the 'same old, same old' and I honestly didn't know 'who done it' until the end.”
Kathy B. is reading A Reliable Wife. The book is set in 1907 and the lead character places an ad for "A Reliable Wife." But the woman who answers the ad has a secret plan that keeps you guessing. “I found the book to be very interesting and a lot like real life during hard times.”
